Lets Play Dress Up!
A quick and easy way to dress up a simple box is with ribbon , material scraps, or other odds & ends that you may have laying around. Here’s a few ideas to get your creative juices flowing!
1. Use your single hole punch tool to punch two holes , approximately one inch apart, on each side of the box. Feed the ends of your favorite ribbon through the holes from the inside to the outside and tie into a bow. This is a quick and easy way to add big bonus points to a boring, plain box.
2. Dress up your jewellery boxes. Use your single hole punch tool to punch two holes, approximately 1/4" apart, on three sides of the box and 3 holes on the front of the box. Weave the end of your favorite ribbon through the holes until you come around to the front where the two sides will meet and come out the center hole. Tie into a bow.
3. Use a knife to put small 1/8" slits in the top of the box. Wrap metallic twist ties around a pencil and insert one end through each slit. On the inside of the box , bend the end of the twist tie to keep it from sliding back through the top of the box. Adjust and stretch out the twist ties until you get the desired look.
4. Use natural raffia (available in craft stores) to add interest to any kraft boxes. Weave raffia through or add "natural" handles to boxes for that country look. Glue on a couple of scraps of gingham material or use gingham giftwrap which you’ve cut into shapes, for a nice effect.
